Afroditi Panagiotakou

Director of Culture of the Onassis Foundation, Afroditi Panagiotakou is responsible for the strategic planning of the Onassis Foundation’s Culture Program, overseeing the cultural initiatives and programming of the Foundation and the Onassis Cultural Centre in Athens and in the United States. The Onassis Culture Program includes major commissioning and presentation programs of a cross-disciplinary nature spanning contemporary time-based visual and performing arts, expanded cinema, digital art, new media, as well as an international and national residency, scholarship, and educational program. Emphasis is placed on contemporary Greek and international artistic expression, with commissioned projects that address the city as a site, highlighting current political and social issues.

She has studied Musicology at the University of Athens and holds postgraduate degrees in Aesthetics as well as Cultural Policy and Management, both from City University, London. She has worked in cultural institutions in Greece and abroad: National Opera, Ministry of Culture, Royal Opera House, Cheek by Jowl, and sits on various committees related to the development of cultural policy in the public and private sectors.
